“Wolverine Pass” 30”x48” Original Oil Painting
I love mountain passes, not climbing them exactly, but being in them. The Rockwall Trail in Kootenay National Park has a lot of them and this one is my favourite. When the wind is calm and the sun is shining a mountain pass is heaven. It smells of heather in the sunshine and the sounds of buzzing insects mingle with splashing streams while cute little pikas call to each other with squeaky peeks. We don’t get to linger long in these high places, the afternoon can be gentle but the nights are cold up there. I wanted so much to capture the magic of walking beneath the stony mountain faces across a sweeping carpet of green.
