When I think of summer in my hometown of Fort St James I think of sunset drives with the windows down. Around the loop, past the golf course, then, this view hits you as you crest the hill heading towards Stones Bay. It makes my heart swoon the way the water sparkles, and how Honeymoon Island is suddenly visible and separate dark against the backdrop of the summer sunset. This is a Christmas commission I painted for someone who used to live in Fort St James. It always nice to have a piece of home to remind us where we are from.
