“Forest Bathing” Oil on Canvas, 24”x48”
This painting of a moss covered nurse log in the forest was inspired by the landscape around me on Vancouver Island. My favourite time to be in the forest is the morning after a heavy rain, when the late morning winter sun sends shafts of misty light through the trees making the forest glow. 
In this painting I combined several of my favourite elements, a nurse log, back lit foliage, and sunbeams. It is inviting the viewer to climb onto the log and be bathed in the light of the forest. 
“Sunbeams pierce the deep shadows of the forest lighting it up in a thousand shades of green. I could stand here forever if I could only photosynthesis like the ferns.”
